Insulbar® born in Europe

The INSULBAR® thermal barrier system originated in Europe back in the early 1970's. Europe's insulating and environmental standards were - and still are - some of the most stringent in the world. Ensinger GmbH and Wicona, in order to meet the needs of a specific project, developed the structural thermal break system to meet these stringent requirements.

The first usage in the United States came a little over ten years after the first installation in Europe. Once again, it was Ensinger's INSULBAR® and once again it was the standard 14.6mm profile. The thermal barrier was used in the Jackson County Public Hospital. This was the first use of the Insulbar thermal barrier which used product produced in the United States. These windows went into service in the spring of 1991 and are still in service as of today.
